Comments:
This is #96 in Sharp's Folk Songs
from Somerset series (the fourth). The words and the air were
taken from Mrs. Sweet, of Somerton.
Regarding the arrangement, I have taken the liberty of removing the
piano accompaniment and only providing the air for one verse. I have
also started on a partial bar (which is not present in Sharp's
arrangement as he has a two-bar lead-in).
Karpeles (1987)KCS has a version of
this song apparently taken from the same source (p55). However there
are one or two subtle differences between her version and Sharp's, both
with regards the air and with regards the text.
