Comments:

This is #39A in the Child cannon. It is identical to the previous version except that I have used Child's edited text (of Johnson's original). This includes some reorganising of the verses (there are some with six lines rather than four). This seems to be common practice with this ballad as Bronson (1959-1972)BTT (vol I, pp328-330), and Kinsley (1969)KOB (pp13-20) have done similar.
